With their season on the line after managing just 5 points in the first 8 games, Royal Challengers Bangalore needed a good start in the ongoing match against Gujarat Lions at Bengaluru to get back into groove especially after being bowled out for 49 in their last game.
However, their batsmen continued to play poorly as they were reduced to 22 for 3 inside 5 overs – with Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle and Travis Head back into the pavilion.
The home time desperately needed a partnership to stop the rot and AB de Villiers and Kedar Jadhav began the rescue work. While de Villiers was playing the second fiddle, Jadhav was playing the shots from the other end to keep the scoreboard ticking.
India’s middle-order batsman had raced to 31 off just 17 balls and was looking well-set to play a big knock. But just then he paid a big price for being too ambitious.
Looking to steer a Ravindra Jadeja delivery towards the third man, the right-handed batsman exposed all the three stumps to play the deft shot.
However, he missed the trajectory of the straight delivery and it went on to uproot the leg stump, bringing Jadhav’s promising knock to an end.
Here is a clip of that dismissal:
