Who said Kiwis cannot fly? Well Trent Boult certainly can. The New Zealand fast-bowler pulled out a stunning save on the boundary line to stop a certain six, that provided the showstopping moment of the third match of this year’s IPL between Gujarat Lions and Kolkata Knight Riders.
After a flying start that saw the last year’s table-toppers scoring 52 runs in the powerplay, the Kolkata Knight Riders bowlers managed to put a little bit check on the scoring rate. The Gujarat-based outfit were 109 for 3 by the end of the 13 over before their skipper Suresh Raina looked to take on Piyush Chawla. After missing the first delivery, the discarded Indian batsman stepped out and lofted Chawla’s delivery to the deep-mid wicket. The ball was looking destined to clear the rope but Boult had other ideas. The New Zealand pacer caught the ball before going airborne to leave one and all stunned with his acrobatic effort. With chances of pulling out a catch looking next to impossible, the KKR bowler tossed the ball back into the field of play while still in the air to save four valuable runs for his team.
Here is a clip of that incredible effort:
