IPL 2017 – We Need To Be Positive And Regroup – Zaheer Khan

Returning from a hamstring injury, Delhi Daredevils skipper Zaheer Khan would have surely expected a better comeback. Ironically, his side was inflicted with a demoralising thrashing by the Mumbai Indians in Delhi, and the margin of loss was a humungous, 146 runs.
For the hosts, not a single move paid off, as Mumbai Indians played like true champions to continue their belligerent campaign this season.
Asking the visitors to bat first, Khan soon realised that the move was a poor one indeed, as Lendl Simmons, playing his first match of the season, pleased all Mumbai fans with a fluent half-century. After being set a gigantic 213 to win, the Delhi batsmen meekly surrendered, as they were rolled over for a poor 66.
Post the thrashing, Zaheer admitted that his side should still stay positive for the remaining games.
“Nothing much I can say about the performance,” Khan said. “When I was on the field, I felt we started well with the ball and stuck to our plans but the partnership between Lendl Simmons and Pollard took the game away from us.”
“Once it is over 200, the batting unit simply had to go. Today we couldn’t just get going. 190 was good, definitely close to 200 was possible. The track was good and I thought the dew would help us. Some days we can’t put the finger on anything,” Khan added.
The veteran pacer mentioned that the campaign for the Daredevils was still quite alive.
“We are going to stay positive, regroup as quickly as possible and we have a break before the next match which should help us. Playoffs is still possible.”
