Brendon McCullam and Dwayne Smith:
Instead or mentioning Brendon McCullam and Dwayne Smith separately, it would be apt if both these players are praised together. The opening duo of CSK has been in prime form and are becoming a nightmare to the bowlers in the IPL. Once again both these set the platform for a CSK victory by scoring 85 in just 11 overs. McCullam got out for a well made 40 and Smith went on to score a superb 50 and was later declared the Man of the Match.
R.Ashwin has been one of the architects behind CSK’s success over the years. Once again he is proving to be Dhoni‘s go to man in the CSK line up. He has been very economical in this year’s IPL and continued his good form against Sunrisers. Even though he failed to pick up a wicket, Ashwin conceded just 17 runs in his 4 overs.
Since becoming a member of Sunrisers Hyderabad, David Warner has been completely out of touch and was struggling to find form. Moreover he was stripped of his opening position and was made to bat at no. 3. Once again after the fall of an early wicket, Warner came into bat and lasted just 2 balls as he was trapped in front by Ben Hilfenhaus and was given out courtesy a blunder from the umpire Vineet Kulkarni.
Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Shikhar Dhawan has been the weak link in their top order since the top of the seventh edition of the IPL. He struggled in almost all the matches and his poor form continued against Chennai Super Kings too as he got out for just 7 trying to pull a Ben Hilfenhaus delivery for a boundary but ended up giving catching practise to Mithun Manhas at mid-wicket.
Ravindra Jadeja was not at his best since the start of the seventh edition of Indian Premier League. He is struggling to score runs with the bat and chip in with some wickets with the ball apart from the game against Rajasthan Royals. His misery continued against Sunrisers Hyderabad as he managed to score just 6 of 9 balls and conceded 23 off his three overs with the ball.
