Having being invited to bat first DD managed to score 152/5 at Feroz Shah Kotla Delhi on Saturday after returning from a 15 day sojourn to UAE. This was Delhi Daredevils’ first match at home this season.
For Delhi Daredevils, rookie South African wicket-keeper Quinton de Koack top scored with 43, while JP Diminy scored an important 39 and along with Kedhar Jhadhav, 28, helped Delhi get past 150. The other Delhi batsmen disappointed as RR bowlers bowled with discipline.
For Rajasthan Royals, James Faulkner and Praveen Tambe took two wickets each, while Kane Richardson picked up the remaining fifth wicket.
At the toss, Rajasthan Royals skipper Shane Watson won the toss and invited Delhi Daredevils to bat on a pitch which is expected to play in the same was as pitches did in UAE – slow and low with a bit of turn for spinners.
On tot the team new now, as Rajasthan Royals captain Shane Watson brought in seamer Dhawal Kulkarni in place of Iqbal Abdulla said, as Watson said the pitch is only selected couple of hours before the match, so he wanted to see how pitch behaves.
Meanwhile, on the other hand, Daredevils went in with completely opposite strategy, as they brought in legspinner Rahul Sharma in place of all-rounder Laxmi Ratan Shukla. Back after missing out on most of the UAE leg if the tour Kevin Pietersen urged his batsmen to score big in the first half as, at Kotla, it becomes difficult to defend the target later in the evening.
