Coming into the sevent edition of IPL, Kngs XI won 5 matches in a row until Mumbai Indians ended their winning streak in their first match in Indian leg on May 3. This loss stopped the winning streak of Kings XI Punjab and limited it to 8 wins. It counts for the most number of consecutive wins in IPL.
Earlier this record was jointly held by Royal Challengers Bangalore, who won 7 matches in a row in the 2011 edition of IPL. Their winning streak was stopped by Kings XI Punjab as they won with a massive margin of 111 runs in Dharamsala.
Whereas Chennai Superkings also held the record previously with 7 wins in the 2013 edition of IPL, this time it was Mumbai Indians who stopped them from going past RCB’s record of 7 wins and it was tie. MI beat CSK by 60 runs in Mumbai stop the winning run.
This time round also it was MI who stopped the winning run of Kings XI Punjab as the beat them at Mumbai by 5 wickets and also recorded their first win after losing all 5 matches in the UAE leg.
While RCB and CSK achieved this feat in a single span, KXIP record spans over two seasons i.e 2013 and 2014.
