IPL 7: Parthiv Patel fifty led RCB to a 7 wicket win over Mumbai Indians

Royal Challengers Bangalore registered a comprehensive 7 wicket win over defending champions Mumabi Indians at Dubai on Saturday in the fifth match of seventh season.

AB de Villiers (45) and Parthiv Patel (57) formed a 99 run partnership for the fourth wicker. Patel top scored with a fine half-century to take RCB home in 18th over.

Zaheer Khan was the pick of the bowlers for Mumbai Indians as he returned with figures of 2/21 in his four overs, while Lasith Malinga picked up the other wicket to fall in RCB innings.   

Earlier, Mumbai Indians managed to score a paltry 115/9 against Royal Challengers Bangalore in their 20 allotted overs.

For Mumbai Indians Ambati Rayudu was the top scorer with a 35 runs at less than run-a-ball in what otherwise was a flop show from the batsmen of defending champions Mumbai.

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s bowling was really impressive as they managed to restrict Mumbai to less than 6 runs per over. Mitchell Starc, Varun Aaron, and Chahal picked up two wickets each as the team-effort from Bangalore’s bowlers makes them favourite at half-way stage.     

At the toss, Virat Kohli won the toss for the second time in three days and had no hesitation to field first against the defending champions Mumbai Indians on a hot afternoon in Dubai.

On to the team news now Royal Challengers Bangalore again left out Chris Gayle, who sat out due to a stiff back, but is expected to be make a comeback in the next match. Kohli also mentioned that Royal Challengers Bangalore remain unchanged from their first match.

On other hand, Mumbai Indians made a solitary change to their playing XI, as fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah replaced wicketkeeper CM Gautam. Aditya Tare is expected to keep wicket ahead of Ambati Rayudu, who in the past had kept wickets.
