IPL 7: Scenarios: How Royal Challengers Bangalore can make into Play-offs

Royal Challengers Bangalore have kept their hopes of qualifying to play-offs after a win against Delhi Daredevils on Tuesday. Now they are at no.6 in points table with 4 wins (8 points) in 10 games they played. Now they need to work out well to make into the play-offs.

With 4 games remaining for them to play their scenarios with be possible if they can register win in at least two games among those.

Here are scenarios how the RCB can make into plays-off to win the title for first time:

Royal Challengers Bangalore will be playing in their remaining games against Chennai Super Kings, Sun Risers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders respectively & in last game they will play against Chennai Super Kings once again.

The best possible opportunity for them to qualify is winning all those games and have 16 points in bag and equal other teams which can end with same number of wins and make your NRR better and qualify for play-offs.

One loss (three wins) in the remaining four games:

If RCB wins three of their next games then they can expect making into play-offs along with a bit amount of luck.

Lose to CSK: If they lose the one game to CSK, means RCB would be beating SRH & KKR, which shut downs the chances of either KKR or SRH progress. They will need to hope CSK beat KKR & SRH and make way for them.

Lose to KKR or SRH: A lose against KKR or SRH can make their chance critical but never tough. They need to win the remaining matches with a good margin and hope CSK win in their games against KKR & SRH.

Two losses (two wins) among the remaining four games:

If RCB lose two games of the next four matches, they will end up with 12 points (6 wins). Even though they can still make into play-offs depending on others games. They will be hoping CSK must be winning against KKR & SRH. And maintain a healthy NRR which will come into consideration.

To make this scenario applicable, RCB must beat SRH. If they beat both KKR and SRH it will put them in a better position.

This is what Bangalore have to hope for getting into play-offs with 6 wins:

SRH vs KKR – SRH win

KKR vs CSK – CSK win

CSK vs SRH – CSK win

KKR vs SRH – SRH win

One win or all losses in the remaining four games:

If Bangalore wins only a game or doesn’t win even a game in next four games, then they are officially out of play-offs race and just hope to end at a good position.
