For SRH, David Warner was the top scorer with a brilliant 61 runs, while Shikhar Dhawan managed to score 37.
For RCB, Mitchell Starc and Varun Aaron picked two wickets each, while Harshal Patel and Ashok DInda took wicket each as Bangalore managed to restrict powerful Hyderabad batting line-up to just over 150, and at half-stage will be confident of chasing the target.
Earlier, at the toss, Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper invited Sunrisers Hyderabad to bat first in their first home game of the season.
Virat Kohli said, and in fact even Shikhar Dhawan concurred, that the pitch will remain same over the entire 40 overs of the match, and given the small boundaries in Bangalore Virat Kohli logically backed his batsmen to chase down any target. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Shikhar Dhawan said it was a good pitch to bat on, but added that the new-ball bowlers might get some assistance early on.
Talking of the team changes now, Bangalore made two of them, as Vijay Mallya owned franchise handed South African opener Rilee Rossouw his first game of the season, as fellow Protea Albie Morkel made way, while spinner Harshal Patel came in for Yogesh Takawale. Bangalore brought in Rossouw into their squad after the injured Australian batsman Nic Maddinson went home early playing just two matches this season.
Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad dropped Amit Mishra to make way for Ishant Sharma, which left them slightly light on spin bowling front as Karn Sharma was their only recognized spinner. Mishra had endured a poor IPL so far and was hence was rightly rested. Heading in to this match both teams have similar number of wins – 2 – from the five matches they have played.
