The top Five Catches of IPL are:

5. Faf du Plessis vs Delhi Daredevils, Abu Dhabi

After winning toss, Chennai Super Kings chose to bat against the modest Delhi Daredevils and managed to put 177-7 on board courtesy a knock from Suresh Raina. After losing Mayank Agarwal and Murali Vijay early, Delhi’s chase was rested on the shoulders of Manoj Tiwary and Dinesh Karthick. Tiwary just faced a ball at the crease and then this happened.

4.2 Ishwar Pandey to Manoj Tiwary, Tiwary came down the track, gave himself some room and tried to clear the off side. But unfortunately the ball hit the bottom of the bat and was spooned towards the long-off boundary. Faf du Plessis, from mid-off ran backwards and when the ball seemed to leave him, he put in a full stretched dive and hold on to the catch. That was a brilliant atheltism from Fafzoolander.

Some brilliant fielding efforts from CSK made them bowl Delhi out for 84 runs and won the match by 93 runs.

4. Surya Kumar Yadav vs Rajasthan Royals, Ahmedabad

Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and chose to field and losing their plot in the game. It was in the eighteenth over of the innings and Sunil Narine was bowling to Shane Watson, who looked threatening,

18.3 Sunil Narine to Shane Watson, Watson managed to reach to the pitch of the ball and tried to whack it over long on boundary where Surya Kumar Yadav waited patiently at the edge of the boundary, timed his stretch to perfection, hold on to the catch and managed to keep his balance millimetres within the ropes.

Rajasthan scored 170 in their 20 overs and won the match by 10 runs.

3. Steve Smith vs Chennai Super Kings, Dubai

After asked to bat first by Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings were cruising along at 35-0 in 5 overs before Steve “The Spiderman” Smith did a Kapil Dev.

5.2 James Faulkner to Brendon McCullam, delivery from Faulkner hits high in McCullam’s bat and went a long way up in the air beyond the mid-wicket region. Three men converged to it as the ball was about to touch the ground and Steven Smith was quick to react as he put in a dive and grabbed the ball with both his hands. That was an acrobatic stuff from Smith.

CSK set the Royals a target of 141 and still managed to win by 7 runs.

2. Chris Lynn vs Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sharjah

Royal Challengers won the toss and put Kolkata Knight Riders into bat. Kolkata made a par 150-7 in their 20 overs with a decent contribution from Lynn. Started their chase strongly, RCB found themselves in a spot of bother towards the end, courtesy Yuvraj Singh’s defensive knock of 31 off 34 balls. With nine runs to win from the last over bowled by Vinay Kumar, RCB looked to take the game away with AB de Villiers looking good at the crease. It all came down to 6 runs off three balls and that’s when this took place.

19.4 Vinay Kumar to AB de Villiers smacked the short of length delivery to deep midwicket, where Chris Lynn set himself up for the catch but he slipped and despite that, he somehow straightened his body on the ground, kept his eye on the ball, pushed his body back and took the catch sitting down. That was an absolute blinder from the Queenslander.

Kolkata managed to pull out a miracle out of nowhere with a two run victory.

1. Kieron Pollard vs Rajasthan Royals, Ahmedabad

Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose to bat. Mumbai put on 178-3 with fifties from Mike Hussey and Lendl Simmons. Rajasthan Royals, while chasing 179 were crumbling at 61-3 in 7.3 overs. That is when this happened,

7.4 Harbhajan Singh to Kevon Cooper. Cooper lofts a shortish delivery towards long on boundary which is set to sail over the ropes. All of a sudden, Big Trinidadian Kieron Pollard leapt high just inside the boundary and took a one handed screamer. Pollard managed to make his ground, took a couple of steps towards the boundary and when found to be millimetres away from the rope, he threw the ball up, went over the boundary, then ran back several feet, and dived forward to complete the catch. That catch deserves to be the Best in the Tournament.

Mumbai went on to win the match by 25 runs.
