A crucial final over with just 12 runs needed Pollard from the West Indies was given the chance to show that he is capable of winning matches with the ball. Pollard won the match for the Mumbai Indians but not before a superlative innings of an unbeaten 61 from the young Hardik Pandya.
However Pandya felt that the final over was more crucial than his knock because it took them over the line. Pandya who knocked 61 off just 31 balls at the end of an innings which seemed to go nowhere after put into bat by the team from Kolkata, hit eight fours and two sixes in his knock. The Mumbai Indian’s teams were able to score 171 after the knock and were able to restrict the KKR and won by 6 runs in the end.
Pandya who felt that the final over in which Pollard picked Yusuf in the first ball and then never allowed the batsmen to get under the ball, was more important than his knock because it helped the team get an all important victory in the race to the play offs.
Mumbai still need to win the final league match against the Sunrisers for a top four spot. The 21 year old Pandya felt that this win was very important for the team and that the confidence is high after the victory.
