Most economical bowler in IPL-8

When the opposition is batting at their best and scoring runs at ease, the only way to put them under pressure by picking wickets and controlling the run-rate. Both of these are inter-related. Stop the scoring and you can pick wicket, or else pick up wickets and scoring rate will come down.

In today’s stat we will be taking a look at such bowlers who have controlled the flow of runs and stopped the opposition by giving easy runs. As a result the opposition batsmen have come under pressure and tried scoring more against other bowlers, which has led to fall of wickets. This is a team sport and this is one of few small examples of how team-mates work together to execute every small plan.

When we take a look at list of bowlers who have been most economical in this of IPL, it is Sandeep Sharma from Kings XI Punjab who comes out on top. With 61 runs given away in just 12 overs. Sandeep has an economy of 5.08 and is on top of our list.

On the second position we have the most senior Indian player featuring in this IPL. Yes it is none other than Pravin Tambe. Tambe has an economy of 6.07 this IPL. He has given away 79 runs in 13 overs that he has bowled.

On 3rd place we again have an Indian bowler in the form Dhawal Kulkarni. He has bowled 10 overs and has an economy of 6.30 runs per over in this IPL. Another thing to make note here is that in Top 5 we have 4 Indian bowlers and 5th one is of Indian origin. Overall there are 7 Indians featuring in the Top 10 list. Definitely a stat for an Indian to be proud about.

On the 4th place is a senior Indian pace bowler in the form of Ashish Nehra, who has also won 2 Man of the Match awards this IPL in the 3 matches he has played in. Nehra has an economy of 6.58. Chennai Super Kings needed an experienced pace bowler and they took a chance with Nehra which has paid off extremely well for the men in yellow.

Sandeep, Tambe, Kulkarni and Nehra are the only 4 players who have bowled 10 or more over this IPL season and still have an economy of less than 7 runs per over.
