The Chennai Super Kings, who have seen a slight slump in form losing games 2 games on the trot broke the sequence by beating the Rajasthan Royals, have more or less booked a place in the play off of this season’s IPL.

In the game on Sunday Dhoni opted to bat first and saw Brendon McCullum score a quick 81 runs after Chris Morris, with figures of 3/19, almost took the match away from them. In reply Rajasthan could only score 145 for the loss of 9 wickets which gave a crucial victory to a low on confidence CSK. Ravindra Jadeja was the architect of a win in the second innings and made the Royals work for every run and came up with figures of 4/11 helping CSK cement their place on the top of the table.

Dhoni after the match praised McCullum for his innings and said that he has been a really important player for the team and that him playing more than 15 overs to score 81 crucial runs is amazing for the team. The skipper also defended his decision of not using the in form spin bowler Ashwin by saying that he did not feel the need to use an offie. He said that he had a lot of over from the quick bowlers and the spell from Jadeja meant that Ashwin did not get to bowl.

Jadeja who was declared the man of the match dedicated it to his mother on the eve of Mothers Day and thanked his mom on the occasion. He also added that he felt good doing so well so close to the knock out phase of the season.
