IPL Extra Innings drummer commits suicide after Sidhu said ‘Thoko taali’ for the millionth time

In a tragic turn of events, Nikhil Arora, the drummer from IPL Extra Innings who occasionally breaks into a hoot of laughter and plays the drums every time Navjot Singh Sidhu screams a Sidhuism and says “Thoko Taali”, was last night found dead in his one bedroom apartment in North Mumbai. Police have found a note on his bed, most likely written by the deceased. The note read like this:

“F**k Sidhu. F**k IPL. I can’t do this anymore yaar, I’m simply quitting this world. Warna main pagal ho jaunga. Thoko Taali – Nikhil.”

“From the initial investigation it seems a case of suicide,” said Inspector Bhagwandas. “But, the strange ecstatic smile on his face is a bit confusing, so we have decided to send the body for autopsy to find out any foul play and confirm our primary investigation.”

Meanwhile, Nikhil’s family, has already filed an FIR against IPL and Sony Max, alleging  them responsible for setting up such a dangerous work conditions which left Nikhil with no other choice but to take the ultimate decision.

Interestingly there is no official statement from the IPL authorities so far on the tragic incident and the subsequent FIR, but after a lot of hard work and oiling, an IPL official told Sportzwiki on condition of anonymity that it is not going well for them. “It is quite reasonable to assume that any judge who has been exposed to Sidhu either on Extra Innings or on the multitude of shows that Sidhu appears in, will obviously sympathize with the complainant. So we definitely have a fight on our hands,” he rued. “It was all because of the damn rain on the match day between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rising Pune Super Giants. If the match continued without the delay due to rain, we wouldn’t have had Sidhu on air for so long, and Nikhil’s exposure to him wouldn’t have crossed the daily critical limit.”

The other participants of Extra Innings – the anchors and the “cheerful experts” – have expressed their shock at Nikhil’s sudden demise. “I feel for Nikhil. His was really a hazardous role. You cannot even dream what one has to go through to fake a laugh at Sidhu’s Sidhuisms and continue to strike a decent rhythm on those instruments,” reacted Sameer Kochhar, after he removed a pair of earplugs leaving the set of another Extra Innings session.

“The main problem is,” Kochhar further said, “being a joyful active drummer, he had to keep his ears open to listen to what he played, so he couldn’t do what we use to do. Everybody in the show – be it Sunny, Shoaib, Archana – we wear ear plugs while talking to Sidhu or while Sidhu screams. We have the privilege not to listen to Sidhu because when speaks there is no such concept of a conversation, the man anyway says whatever he likes regardless of the question. A total crap. Nikhil certainly couldn’t do that, and paid the ultimate price.”

Apparently one of our correspondents reached Navjot Singh Sidhu for a comment on this tragedy, but we don’t know what Sidhu said to our correspondent because we haven’t been able to locate him ever since he left for Sidhu’s apartment. Let’s hope no missing diary is needed!

Please note this is a humour article and a work of pure fiction.
