Is this the beginning of the rise of Bangladesh cricket ? At the moment the answer seems to be yes.
Bangladesh created history yesterday by winning their first bilateral ODI series against India and outplayed them in all the departments of the game. With that historic victory, Bangladesh have sealed their spot for the 2017 champions trophy which is an outstanding achievement in Bangladesh’s history.

Bangladesh surprised the entire world with their performances in the world cup by reaching the quarter finals for the very first time. Bangladesh defeated England in a do or die game for a quarter final spot and registered their historic win over them in the world cup. It took people by surprise, but they went on to lose against India which was one of the stronger side in the world cup. But Bangladesh made a strong statement of what they are capable of.

After coming back from a successful world cup, Bangladesh continued their good run by defeating Pakistan 3-0 and completed the famous “Banglawash” which was considered as one of the highlights in Bangladesh cricket history. What could be the reason for the sudden change around in Bangladesh cricket ? Bangladesh over the years had good talented cricketers but they lacked the self confidence and belief of defeating big teams. Now they never seemed to be bothered about that. Over the years Bangladesh cricket revolved around spinners with two pacers or one which never seemed to be threatening the oppositions. But now they have strengthened their pace department which made them to be competitive against big teams. Bowling coach of Bangladesh Heath Streak deserves a huge credit for that.

Before the start of the ODI series the Bangladesh skipper mentioned that “ We will beat them with our pace attack” and it paid dividends for Bangladesh and they outplayed India with their four men pace attack and ended up sealing the series. Records tumbled yesterday as Bangladesh now has won ten consecutive ODI matches at their home and a victory which sealed the champions trophy spot.

South Africa are the next visitors for the tour of Bangladesh and one can expect a competitive series with this new look Bangladeshi side with immense confidence and self belief. Exciting times ahead for Bangladesh cricket as they seem to enjoy and cherish every moment of all the records they made in recent times.
