Indian bowlers Ishant Sharma and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have improved in the latest ICC rankings released today. Both of them had bowled superbly as India beat England by 95 runs at Lord’s to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Bhuvi had taken 6 wickets in the first innings, while Ishant took 7 in the second.
Ishant jumped three places to return to the top-20 of the Test bowlers’ chart for the first time in three years. Ishant, who is now 20th, now trails Ravichandran Ashwin (11th) by 139 ratings points. The 24-year-old Kumar had overall match figures of 6/103, with all his wickets coming in the first innings. He has jumped 12 places to claim 34th position with team-mate Ravindra Jadeja in 28th position.
In the Test batting rankings, Vijay rose 11 places to claim a career-best 19th spot following innings of 24 and 95 in the first and second innings respectively. Vijay is the third highest Indian batsman behind Cheteshwar Pujara (eighth) and Virat Kohli (14th).
Rahane, 26, who scored a battling 103 in the first innings, has gained 11 places on the table and is now in the 35th position.
