Ishant Sharma Clears Doubts Surrounding His Participation in County Cricket

Indian fast bowler Ishant Sharma has made it clear that despite news surfacing in the media that he is set to play county cricket for Warwickshire, he hasn’t signed for any of the English counties and doesn’t have any plan to do so. Taking to his twitter handle Ishant wrote, “Contrary to the news rounds through various sites, have not signed Warwickshire or any other county.”

It is pretty strange that this sort of a misleading news went surfacing in the media and was covered by many of the leading websites. It is uncertain that what prompted the websites to publish such a news despite not getting any confirmation.

Meanwhile, Indian spin ace Ravichandran Ashwin is expected to fly to England for a stint with Worcestershire but after Ishant’s news, it is surely not possible to confirm what will happen in the near future.

Meanwhile, Ishant has been warming the benches in the Test series against Sri Lanka. He has been a bowler who has everything in him to be a successful bowler in the international; level but his inconsistency has been his biggest drawback which hasn’t allowed to become India’s spearhead even after donning the national colours since 2007.

He has shown glimpses of what he is capable of but hasn’t been able to pull off impressive performances on a consistent basis. Following Zaheer Khan’s retirement, Ishant became India’s leader of the pack but with the emergence of impressive bowlers like Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami, the future of Ishant is looking really bleak.

In his last series against Australia, Ishant failed to make a mark and returned with pretty mediocre returns in all of the Tests. He lacked penetration and hardly troubled the Australian batsmen while Umesh Yadav kept on testing their batsmen with ferocious pace and swing. So with the Indian pace brigade improving with each passing day, it becomes a pretty difficult prospect for Ishant to claw his way back into the team.
