Jaipur Traffic Police Apologises To Jasprit Bumrah For ‘No-Ball’ Poster

Jaipur Traffic Police has issued an apology to India fast-bowler Jasprit Bumrah for taking a dig at his infamous no-ball that played a big role in India’s humiliating 180-run defeat against Pakistan in the final of the recently-concluded ICC Champions Trophy.

Bumrah had given Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman a reprieve in only the fourth over when he was batting on just three. The left-handed batsman had edged behind but the delivery was eventually adjudged a no-ball after replays showed the Indian pacer had overstepped.

The incident turned out to the decisive moment in the high-octane clash, as Fakhar stormed to his maiden international century to power Pakistan to a daunting 338 for four. In reply, India was all out for only 158, as Pakistan claimed an 180-run win to lay their hands on the coveted trophy for the first time.

The no-ball from Bumrah might have cost India the match but Jaipur Police saw the humorous side of it and used a picture of the no-ball in one of their campaigns to raise public awareness about road safety. The cops erected the billboard showing the no-ball next to two stopped vehicles and a tagline reading,

“Don’t cross the line. You know it can be costly.”

The tweet did draw laughs from many on social media but Bumrah was not impressed by it and slammed the cops for not respecting an individual who gives his best for the country.

“@traffic_jpr well done Jaipur traffic police this shows how much respect you get after giving your best for the country,” he had tweeted.

The Jaipur Traffic Police has now apologised to the 23-year-old bowler and called him an inspiration for the youth.

“Dear @jaspritbumrah93, our intent was not to hurt your sentiments or the sentiments of millions of cricket fans, we only intended to create more awareness about traffic rules, you are a youth icon and inspiration for all of us,” the Jaipur Traffic Police tweet read.
