West Indies players Jason Holder, Nkrumah Bonner and Kraigg Brathwaite have been penalised by the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) for separate breaches of the Code of Conduct during the Regional Super50 Tournament.
While Bonner and Holder have been fined for the offence, Brathwaite has been reprimanded for the same. The West Indies skipper and Bonner were fined 25 per cent of their match after admitting to the offences, but Brathwaite was given a reprimand following a hearing with the match referee.
Holder was reported for a Level 1 breach of the Code by the match officials during the final match of the tournaments between Barbados Pride and Jamaica Scorpions last week. The fast-bowler was accused of showing dissent at the umpire’s decision after he threw his hands in the air following an unsuccessful LBW appeal in the 44th over of the Scorpions’ chase.
Bonner was also reported for breaching the same part of the code after he delayed his departure from the pitch during the match between Leeward Islands Hurricanes and West Indies Under-19s on February 6. He was adjudged caught behind in the fourth over of the innings but instead of leaving the pitch immoderately he took his time before asking the umpire about his dismissal. And when the umpire told him the reason, he responded by saying:” You can’t see”.
Brathwaite too was reprimanded for a show of dissent at an umpire’s decision during a match between Barbados Pride and Combined Campuses & Colleges on February 11. The Pride opener was also accused of showing dissent at the umpire’s decision after his delayed departure from the pitch following his dismissal. However, he has escaped a fine but was given an official reprimand by the match referee.
