Josh Hazlewood pleased after record spell

Ever since he burst onto the scene, Josh Hazlewood has been a complete asset. The right arm pacer has no fancy aspects associated with his bowling, but he just believes in focusing on the basics by pitching the ball in the right areas. So far, doing so has done wonders for Hazlewood, who has been a regular member of Australia’s ODI and Test teams.
Against South Africa at Guyana, the pacer bowled a miserly spell and bowled the most economical spell by an Australian bowler since 2005. In his quota of 10 overs, Hazlewood conceded a mere 20 runs in order to strangle the Proteas batsmen down. Post the game, Hazlewood said that he got some assistance from the wicket, where run scoring was quite cumbersome.
“On that wicket, it was very slow and low and tough to score on if you do bowl stump to stump, hit the right length … set the right fields,” Hazlewood said. “It can be pretty simple but sometimes hard to execute.”Obviously different to the Australian wickets we play on but you’ve got to adapt, international cricket is about playing all over the world.”
The lanky pacer stated that breaks from international cricket often helped his body to cope up. “There’s a little bit of rust there, as to be expected,” Hazlewood said. “We’ve obviously had that little bit of a break from international cricket but we’ve been training now for a month or month and a half. “The body feels pretty good … the ball feels like it’s coming out pretty well. “Still plenty of improvement but yeah it’s a good start.”
The pacer concluded by saying that if the wicket at St.Kitts remained similar to the one at Guyana, run making would continue to be difficult. “I think so,” Hazlewood said. “I haven’t been to St Kitts but I’ve heard the outfield is small. “But if the wicket’s going to be similar it is going to be hard to score.”
