JP Duminy, the South Africa batsman is set to miss out from the Champions League T20 tournament after been caught with an injury to his knee which happened to him during the recently concluded tri-series in Zimbabwe. He was withdrawn from the squad and so he didn’t travel to India.

After injury he was confirmed to have patella tendinopathy.It has been understood that the Cobras team said they had put forward the name of Sybrand Engelbrecht as replacement but the CLT20 organizers did not approve it.

Duminy is the second big player Cobras player will be missing out for the CLT20 2014. Earlier, Beuran Hendricks, the team’s highest wicket-taker in the Ram Slam Challenge, ruled out of the tournament due to a stress fracture to his back.

Not only these two stars from Cape Cobras, few other international stars to have been ruled out of the CLT20 earlier whose list is read as are Daniel Vettori, Shakib Al Hasan, Morne Morkel, Dale Steyn, Rohit Sharma, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Abdur Razzak and while on Wednesday it was announced that Mitchell Johnson was also likely to not take part.

Cape Cobras’ campaign in the tournament starts against Northern Districts on Friday in Raipur.
