Justice For Shubham: 21-Year-Old Cricketer Murdered By Teammates For Being A Better Player

While there is absolutely no denying that cricket has made many overnight stars in this cricket-obsessed nation, there are some who have hefty prices for this very game and one such unlucky individual is 21-year old Shubham Gouthaman. In fact, the budding cricketer has paid the biggest price for playing the game wholeheartedly, as he was killed by none other than two of his teammates.
What is even more heartbreaking that he lost his life for being a better player than his peer. A resident of Hubli located on the outskirts of Karnataka, Shubham was a promising fast bowler and decided to try his fate by taking part in a tournament in Bangalore. But Shubham did not want to go alone and so decided to go with two of his mates, one being a son of an MLA. However, little did he know that his decision to go with friends would be the costliest mistake of his life.
Shubham along with the accused travelled to Bangalore in a private bus to participate in the tournament before the two of his ‘so-called’ friends decided to let the jealousy get the better of them. As per news in The Indian Express, Shubham was killed while he was having his meal. And in an attempt to come out clean of the heinous crime, his teammates admitted him to a nearby hospital. They did not stop there, as the politician taking advantage of his power, tampered with the post-mortem report to save the murderers. The duo then left Shubham’s body in the hospital and went ahead to take part in the cricket tournament.
At a time when even a small news reaches the remotest of corners, surprisingly Shubham’s murder has failed to garner the media’s attention. But those who are aware of the story are making sure to demand justice for the deceased by sharing posts with the hashtag #JusticeForShubham on social media.
