Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar Offers Land For Cricket Academy To Shahid Afridi

After Pakistan former skipper Shahid Afridi lambasted Sindh government for not providing the piece of land for the proposal of cricket academy, Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar on Sunday came to his rescue by offering him land for the academy.
However, Sindh Sports Minister Sardar Mohammad Bux Khan Mahar on Sunday (May 7) has assured Afridi to grant him the land for cricket academy while stating to choose a specified place before informing the government, reported Duniya News.
While effusively praising Sindh for the rich talent, Mahar is expected to hold a press conference while meeting Afridi on Tuesday (May 9). The 37-year-old Afridi is looking forward to establishing the cricket academy for the youngsters in a bid to nurse the talent.
Mayor’s extent of support to leg-spinner was revealed by Geo News in its report when he stated he is ready to arrange the land for veteran cricketer in Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) ground while adding he would assist the celebrated cricketer in the cause.
Mayor was thanked by Afridi, following the cooperation in a bid to launch the academy which will provide a platform for the young guns according to the swashbuckler, who is also running a foundation ‘Shahid Afridi Foundation Hope Not Out’ for the betterment of society and further to take care of needy ones in far-flung areas.
According to the report of Ary News, Afridi was addressing a gathering in Sindh, in the memory of late Benazir Bhutto while stating the situation would’ve been all different had the former Prime Minister of Pakistan been alive.
