The 2012 Indian Premier League numero uno, the Kolkata Knight Riders, is the team to keep tabs on in the tournament of this season.

This year the squad encompasses a sound combination of international players and the talented Indians. Still and all this season KKR has hold back only Gautam Gambhir and Caribbean Sunil Narine. Yusuf Pathan has turned back to the team along with Jacques Kallis, Ryan ten Doeschate, Shakib Al Hasan, Debabrata Das and the match-winner of the final of 2012 season Manvinder Bisla.

The cardinal section of the team, however, has been sustained to valid ambit.

The skipper, Gautam Gambhir forges ahead as the mainspring of the KKR batting line-up. In the 2012 season, he was so vehement in his form, that it stimulated the Knights to defeat the Chennai Super Kings and grab the prestigious trophy.

The bigwig Yusuf Pathan had also added a significant contribution to the team in order to win the title. Yusuf can be proved as a master of batting this season too, as he has the capability to turn around the course of the game with his dynamic thumps.

Although, Yusuf has gone through a blazing phase for the franchise squad for the past two years, but the team management still has trust on him, giving him the support and awaited for him to come in the shape in this season.

Here comes another vigorous batsman, Robin Uthappa, who has been marked already for his spectacular acquirement. Uthappa can also keep the stumps when he is required in advance of keeping the balance of the side right.

Knights includes Manish Pandey also, who scrolled the first century as an Indian player in the IPL.

Apart from them, Suryakumar Yadav, Debabrata Das and Bisla are the other talented hitters who are expected to be shined in this season.

All-rounder Jacques Kallis has always been a classic option for KKR and is assumed to get in the act as with his bat as he always does persistently for the team.

KKR acts intelligently during the purchase of players as the team has bought some fast bowlers this season. Now, Umesh Yadav and R Vinay Kumar have been included in the team.

Knights may find their batting line-up quite strong as a few international bowlers such as Morne Morkel, Pat Cummins, and all-rounder Andre Russell has been incorporated to the squad.

Powerful bowling line-up and overwhelming batting formation can be proved as advantageous to the team this season. The distinct match-winners has put cherry on the cake to the team.

But the team has to be concerned when it comes to dealing with the middle order. It had shown that if the middle order got disturbed it was pretty hard for the team to win the match. However, batsmen like Suryakumar Yadav, Debabrata Das, Manish Pandey and even Yusuf Pathan has come to rescue the team with this respect somewhat.

The local players would get a massive chance to gleam in the international cricket arena.

The team has to make their coordination right in the first few matches. If they get the right combination once, it would be tough for the other team to defeat the Knights.
