At a time when the whole of Indian cricketing fraternity is severely criticising the Australia media for comparing Virat Kohli with the US president Donald Trump, Yuvraj Singh feels the comparison is compliment for the Indian skipper.
The 28-year old India batsman has been the centre of controversy in the ongoing series against Australia which has been marred with numerous controversies most notably the DRS controversy that occurred during the Bengaluru Test. The emotions and tensions were running high among both the sides and the already tensed situation took another turn when Kohli criticised the visiting team for allegedly taunting Team India physio Patrick Farhart, who was treating Kohli after he injured himself while trying to save a run in the third Test in Ranchi.
And the Australian media which has not left a single chance to target the Indian batsman during this fiercely-contested series once again took a dig at the him. The Daily Telegraph in its report compared Kohli to Donald Trump.
“Just like President Trump, Kohli decided to blame the media as a means of trying to hide the egg smeared right across his face,” the report stated to Kohli’s allegations about Australian team disrespecting physio Patrick Farhart.
And while the Aussie media has been receiving widespread criticism for comparing Kohli with Trump, Yuvraj Singh feels that it was a compliment for his teammate.
“It’s a big compliment for Virat if Aussie media is comparing him with Trump. It means he is the best,” Yuvraj told India Today.
The southpaw further said that the fourth and the final Test in Dharamsala will be great match.
“The series between India and Australia has been really good. Dharamsala should be a good series decider and even if the series is tied, we are in for a great Test,” Yuvraj added.
Meanwhile, Cheteshwar Pujara has said that the whole Indian team is behind their under-fire skipper before adding that the hosts are looking to concentrate only on the upcoming match.
“It’s really sad to hear such comments. We fully support Virat and he is one of the great ambassadors of the game. The focus has shifted somewhere else. We are focussed on the game and he is a great leader. We are looking forward to the next game rather than worrying about anything else,” Pujara said during the pre-match press conference ahead of the final Test.
