Karnataka Cricket has been going through high time recently and they are presently the Ranji Champions. There has been an announcement made by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) on Friday about the revival of the Karnataka Premier League (KPL). And also some of the great players from the state in the likes of Robin Uthappa and Vinay Kumar will participate in the KPL.
KSCA secretary, Brijesh Patel made it clear that the tournament will be played at a gap of 2 years and will be held during the period of August to September. He also added by saying that the tournament will be named after their Late President, Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wodeyar.
It has also been stated that the franchises for the participating teams will be revealed after the completion of the tender process on 22nd July. The tournament will last for 16 days and the final shall be held at Mysore on the 7th September.
It has also been stated that the total investment for the organization of the tournament will cost between 6-7 crore Rs. The tournament started in 2010 and in this year too, the tournament will be held in a same manner with alike fixtures that were there in 2010 and 2011 seasons. Also in addition to the other teams, there will be another team comprising of local celebrities participating in this year’s KPL which will be led by a renowned Kannada film actor, Sudeep.
Also the celebrity team will comprise of other stars in the likes of Ram Charan Teja, Shabeer Ahluwalia, Tarun Chandra and Arun Benny.
The venues for the tournament are Bangalore Metro, Greater Bangalore, Belgaum, Bellary, Hubli-Dharwad, Gulbarga, Mangalore, Mysore Raichur and Shimoga.
The tournament will commence from Hubli in August. Hope this tournament brings up several young talents from the state.
