Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won the toss in the city of Indore and surprisingly decided to bat first. It was a surprising decision from Watson keeping in mind the trend that has been followed by teams previously and also the dew factor which will later come into play, to support the team batting second. It was the team combination that Shane Watson reckoned behind this surprising decision.
Ab de Villiers returned to the RCB side in place of swashbuckler Chris Gayle, who scored 38 runs in previous two games. For Kings XI Punjab, Varun Aaron replaces all-rounder Swapnil Singh.
Here is what captains said at the time of the toss –
Glenn Maxwell:
“Last year we didn’t have the success, but we had a great start this season. Nice start. Started off with a win. I’m very much acclimatised to the conditions and enjoying my butter chicken. tonight. Hopefully, we will carry the momentum. One change for us: Varun Aaron in place of Swapnil Singh.”
Shane Watson:
“We are gonna have a bat first. The combination of both (conditions and opposition). It’s great to see him (Maxwell) do well. Maxi is one my good friends and he’s got an opportunity to lead. He’s led well with the bat. ABD is back in place of Chris Gayle. Yes! He is 100 percent fit.”
