Well, it appears that the untimely pull-out by the West Indies is really hurting Virat Kohli. In fact after a long duration when he was able to display his form in his last ODI, many of the fans were hoping to see him standing at the top of ICC ODI batting ranking but on the contrary, in terms of latest ICC ODI Ranking, he has further lost a place. Now he stands at number 3 position. Now, South African firebrand batsman, Hashim Amla has overtaken Kohli as a result of their 2-0 victory in a 3 match series against New Zealand. Amla got a slight edge over Kohli by 2 points with his rating of 885 against Kohli’s 883, and he now holds second position. AB de Villers has been able to retain his top position with a total of 883 points. The earliest opportunity for Kohli to improve his ranking is coming his way on Nov. 2nd when he will be playing against touring Sri Lanka in a five match series and the narrow margin of 2 points will hopefully be eliminated by Kohli. Although with his latest 114 balls and 127 runs brilliant performance in Delhi, he appears to be in a perfect form but this time his task will not become so easy as he will also be bearing the burden of being the skipper as captain MS Dhoni has been given rest. But then, knowing Kohli’s aggression, especially while playing as a captain with the advantage of batting on the home turf, millions of the fans of the game do hope that not only Virat Kohli will defeat Amla in the ranking but he will be aiming to regain his usual position of number one batsman. Shikhar Dhawan will also have a chance to improve his position upwards.
