Latest ICC ODI Rankings: Kohli retains No.2 and Root, Sarfaraz enters top 5

England batsman, Joe Root has broken into top 5 in the latest ICC ODI rankings for the first time in his career after his impressive performance against Pakistan in the recent ODI series.
The English batsman have managed 274 runs in the series which helped him earn the Man of the Series award. The performance meant he had leapfrogged New Zealand’s duo of Kane Williamson and Martin Guptill, as well as India batsman Rohit Sharma as he is now in the fourth position in the rankings.
As many as four England batsmen have managed to raise their rankings as opener Alex Hales has clinched 20th place after scoring 223 runs in the series while Eoin Morgan have reached the 24th spot from 28th and another destructive opener Jason Roy rose 10 positions to reach 35th position.
Meanwhile, Pakistan captain Azhar Ali and wicketkeeper Sarfaraz Khan have also seen a rise in their rankings as Azhar moved up 15 places to 33rd and Sarfaraz has moved up 21 places to 39th position.
However, South Africa’s AB de Villiers is well ahead of rest of the batsman as he has a massive 887 rating points while Virat Kohli is at No.2 with 813 rating points. Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan have also managed to be in top-10.
