Laxman praises Ganguly for successfully organising the India-Pakistan match

Former Indian batsman and Sourav Ganguly’s national team-mate VVS Laxman praised Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and its chief Sourav Ganguly for presenting a good and successful India-Pakistan match in WT20 2016.

After a lot of drama, finally, Eden Gardens (Kolkata) got India-Pakistan WT20 2016 match which was played on Saturday night. The match went under the cloud as a thunderstorm blew on the ground just a few hours before the starting of the match. That rain made a threat to wash out the most-awaited match.

But leading by Sourav Ganguly, the Eden Gardens management and staff did a great job to hold the match in almost full overs (the match was played for 18-overs each side). The ground staffs did a great job as they were sitting on the joints of the covers at the drizzle time. The CAB chief Sourav Ganguly was always present on the ground and managed everything with taking big care. As a result, the match was delayed for just 1 hour and reduced only 2-overs from each team’s innings.

In the late of last year, Eden Gardens failed to produce T20I match between India and South Africa due to the rain. However, the rain was not dangerous like the recent India-Pakistan WT20 match.

Laxman was also happy to watch famous Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan as India’s national anthem singer before the starting of the game. Apart from that, another Bollywood Pakistani singer Shafqat Amanat Ali also sang Pakistan’s national anthem.

Before the performing the national anthem, a short special felicitation function was organized where Ganguly invited former India-Pakistan cricket legends Imran Khan, Sachin Tendulkar, Waqar Younis, Sunil Gavaskar, Virender Sehwag and Wasim Akram.

Finally, the match was held in a very good manner as it was a very exciting low scoring match.
