Test matches are heart of cricket, sometimes it’s called the real cricket. There was a time in cricket, in the beginning of the game when there were only test matches were played. There was no ODIs or T20s, and we all know that any type of cricket match between India and England is very sensational. Today we are listing about the Test series played by India in England soil.

India in England Test Series, 1932

This series took place at Lord’s in 1932 and it was a one match series and it was a 3-day test match. Skipper of India was Cottari Kanakaiya Nayudu and of England was Douglas Robert Jardine. England batted in the 1st innings and made 259 by playing 105.1 over, and India in their 1st innings made 189 by playing 93 overs. England made 275 by playing 110 overs and India in 2nd innings made 187 by playing 57.3 overs. England won the match and the series by 158 runs.

India in England Test Series, 1936

This series consisted of three test matches. Skipper for India was Maharajah of Vizianagram and of England was Sir Gubby Allen (Full name George Oswald Browning Allen). The 1st one took place at Lord’s and England won it by 9 wickets, 2nd test held at  Old Trafford, Manchester and this match was drawn and the 3rd match took place at the Oval and England won by 9 wickets. England won the series by 2-0 result.

India in England Test Series, 1946

This series consisted of three test matches. Skipper for India was Nawab of Pataudi (full name Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi) and of England was Wally Hammond (Full name Walter Reginald Hammond). The 1st one took place at Lord’s and England won it by 10 wickets, 2nd test held at  Old Trafford, Manchester and this match was drawn and the 3rd match took place at the Oval and this match was drawn. England won the series by 1-0 result.

India in England Test Series, 1952

This series consisted of four test matches. Skipper for India was Vijay Samuel Hazare and of England was sir Leonard Hutton. The 1st one took place at Leed’s and England won by 7 wickets, 2nd test held at Lord’s and England won by 8 wickets, the 3rd match took place at Manchester and Englang won by an innings and 207 runs, 4th match took place at the Oval and this match was drawn, England won the series by 3-0 result.

India in England Test Series, 1959

This series consisted of five test matches. Skipper for India was Dattajirao Krishnarao Gaekwad and of England was Peter Barker Howard May. The 1st one took place at Nottingham and England won by and innings and 59 runs, 2nd test held at Lord’s and England won by 8 wickets, the 3rd match took place at Leed’s and England won by an innings and 173 runs, 4th match took place at the Manchester and England won by 171 runs 5th match took place at the Oval and England won by an innings and 27 runs, England won the series by 5-0 result

This series consisted of three test matches. Skipper for India was Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi and of England was Dennis Brian Close. The 1st one took place at Leed’s and England won it by 6 wickets, 2nd test held at Lord’s and England won by an innings and 124 runs and the 3rd match took place at Birmingham and England Won by 132 runs. England won the series by 3-0 result.

This series consisted of three test matches. Skipper for India was Ajit Laxman Wadekar and of England was Raymond Illingworth. The 1st one took place at Lord’s and this match was drawn, 2nd test held at  Old Trafford, Manchester and this match was drawn and the 3rd match took place at the Oval and India won by 4 wickets. India won the series by 1-0 result.

This series consisted of three test matches. Skipper for India was Ajit Laxman Wadekar and of England was Michael Henry Denness. 1st test held at  Old Trafford, Manchester and England won by 113 runs, The 2nd one took place at Lord’s and England won by an innings and 285 runs, and the 3rd match took place at Birmingham and England won by an innings and 78 runs. England won the series by 3-0 result.

This series consisted of four test matches. Skipper for India was Srinivasaraghavan Venkataraghavan and of England was John Michael Brearley. The 1st one took place at Birmingham and England won by 83 runs, 2nd test held at Lord’s and this match was drawn, the 3rd match took place at Leed’s and this match was drawn, 4th match took place at the Oval and this match was drawn, England won the series by 1-0 result.

This series consisted of three test matches. Skipper for India was Sunil Manohar Gavaskar and of England was Robert George Dylan Willis. The 1st one took place at Lord’s and England won by 170 runs, 2nd test held at Nottingham and this match was drawn, the 3rd match took place at Leed’s and India won by an innings and 46 runs, 4th match took place at the Oval and this match was drawn, the series was drawn by 1-1 result.

Pataudi Trophy, 2007

This series consisted of three test matches. Skipper for India was Rahul Sharad Dravid and of England was Michael Paul Vaughan. The 1st one took place at Lord’s and this match was drawn, 2nd test held at Nottingham and India won it by 7 wickets and the 3rd match took place at the Oval and this match was drawn. India won the series by 1-0 result.

Pataudi Trophy, 2011

This series consisted of four test matches. Skipper for India was Mahendra Singh Dhoni and of England was Andrew John Strauss. The 1st one took place at Lord’s and England won by 196 runs, 2nd test held at Nottingham and England won by 319 runs, the 3rd match took place at Birmingham England won by an innings and 242 runs, 4th match took place at the Oval and England won by an innings and 8 runs, the series was drawn by 4-0 result.
