Hat-tricks in test matches do not occur in quite often. Taking 3 wickets in 3 consecutive deliveries is never a matter of joke. There has been 41 hat-tricks so far in the history of test cricket and 1 of them has been added to the list just today, when Stuart Broad took his second test hat-trick. In our article, we are going to present you upon a list of players who have achieved the milestone of taking a test hat-trick twice or more in tests. There has been 3 bowlers who had achieved this milestone before today. Stuart Broad becomes the fourth bowler in world cricket to take a hat-trick in tests twice. Here is a list of all the 4.

1. Hugh Trumble: He was an off-break spinner for Australia. He took both of his hat-tricks against England in 1902 and 1904 respectively. Both of his hat-tricks were taken in the Melbourne Cricket Ground. In his first test hat-trick, he took the wickets of A. Jones, J.R. Gunn and S.F. Barnes. In his second test Hat-trick, he took the wickets of B.J.T Bosanquet, P.F. Warner and A.F.A Liley. This Australian spinner played 32 tests for the Aussies and bagged 141 wickets.

2. Thomas James Mathews: He was popularly known as Jimmy Mathews and he remains the only player in the cricketing history to have taken a hat-trick in each of the 2 innings of a single test.  He played for Australia and took both of his hat-tricks against South Africa in Manchester in 1912. He had a short international career and played only 8 tests for Australia. In his first hat-trick in the first innings, he took the wickets of Rolland Beaumont, Sid Pegler and Tommy Ward of South Africa. In the second innings, he took the wickets of Herbie Taylor, Gordon White and Reggie Schwarz in his second hat-trick.

3. Wasim Akram: The swinging legend, Wasim Akram was the first Pakistani to achieve a Test hat-trick and also the third to take two consecutive hat-tricks in back-to-back Test matches, which was while playing against Sri Lanka on March 6, 1999. He dismissed Romesh Kaluwitharana, Niroshan Bandaratilleke and Pramodya Wickramasinghe. Eight days later, both the teams were playing the third and final Test match when Wasim Akram once again performed a hat-trick, this time taking the wickets of Avishka Gunawardene, Chaminda Vaas and Mahela Jayawardene. Wasim Akram is also the first and only bowler in cricket history to take four cricket hat-tricks, two each in Test matches and ODIs. This record is still unmatched.

4. Stuart Broad: He is one of the newest entries in the list. He took his first hat-trick against India in 2011 in Nottingham. He dismissed Indian skipper, MS Dhoni, Harbhajan Singh and Praveen Kumar in his first hat-trick. He took 6 wickets in that innings by giving only 46 runs. He was an important bowler for the English men in that series where England whitewashed India 4-0 in the 4 match Test series. Broad took his second hat-trick of his career against Sri Lanka on today. It was the 1st day of the second test against Sri Lanka and he took the 7th, 8th and 9th Wicket of Sri Lankan line up in the form of Dhammika Prasad, Dinesh Chandimal and Nuwan Pradeep. He managed to take 3 wickets in the innings.
