Indian Premier League began is a platform to encourage young talents and expose them to the International standards early in their career in to hope that we get them into the Indian team one day. The concept was great while many did oppose. Many also questioned the real intention behind IPL, was it money or finding new talent.

We have definitely found great bits of talent and there is no doubt about that. But how much of that talent has been utilized by us is the big question. In today’s stat, we will take a look at a list of players to debut in IPL.

At 17 years and 177 days, Sarfaraz Khan is the youngest player to debut in IPL. He is a young aggressive batsman who represents Mumbai Ranji Team in domestic cricket. Some good performances caught the attention of RCB camp as they know what value young players can be.

Their captain Virat Kohli rose to fame only after the U-19 Cricket World Cup. Sarfaraz Khan in his first innings scored 11 runs in 7 balls, which contained a six. However he couldn’t take his team through victory. 

Sarfaraz Khan broke the record of Pradeep Sangawan. He was a good pace bowler but somewhere down the lane lost his rhythm. He featured in the first season of IPL in 2008. He was just 2 days elder to Sarfaraz when he made his debut. It is possible that Sarfaraz got a match to play only for the record. He was 17 years and 179 days when he made his debut.

On the 3rd position is Unmukt Chand, who rose to fame after his brilliant performance in the Under-19 cricket too. He took the Indian team through to winning in the Under-19 World Cup captaining the side very well. He was the captain and also scored a century in the most important match which was the final.

Chand was 18 years and 16 days old when he made his debut for Delhi Daredevils in the 3rd season of IPL played in 2011.
