Manish Pandey had been in significant form in the past IPL where he has decent contributions in making his team Kolkata Knight Riders, the champions of IPL 7. As it stands, Manish Pandey has been included in the national squad as a result of his brilliant performances for the lone T20 against West Indies.
Pandey had been waiting to get a chance in the Indian team. He was a sensational player in the Under-19 and he was a member of the team led by Virat Kohli in 2007 when India won the U-19 championship.
But since then, he was struggling for opportunities and could not find a spot in the Indian team. He had played pretty well in the past IPL sessions but he was not that consistent. But recently, he has been in prime form and he has been consistent enough.
Manish Pandey said that it is a great feeling for him. He also added that he thought he was ready for it for a couple of years ago, but it is OK for him. He feels that this is the right time for him to make a mark.
The Nainital-born right handed batsman has been in the eyes of the selectors for quite sometime now. He had a brilliant Ranji season in 2013-14 where he scored 729 runs.
He said that what stood out was the consistency which he was successful in showing.
He had played a brilliant knock in the IPL final which eventually proved to be a match winning one. He also played a similar kind of match winning innings in the Ranji final in the past season where he scored 144 runs and took his team to victory.
Finally he said that he is proud that he has been provided with the opportunity to play for the country. He will try his level best to come up in bright colours in the national jersey.
