India A notched up their first victory in the quadrangular series in Australia. The men in blue defeated South Africa A by three wickets. Manish Pandey’s hundred and Dhawal Kulkarni’s four-wicket haul led India A to beat South Africa at Tony Ireland Stadium in Townsville today.
Manish Pandey scored an unbeaten 100 runs off 105 balls to help India A to win the match. India in reply to South Africa’s 230 in 50 overs chased down the total in 48.4 overs.
India commencing the chase, lost the first wicket in the 10th over of the match. Karun Nair was the first Indian wicket to leave the crease. India also lost two quick wickets in Faiz Faizal and Mandeep Singh. However, Manish Pandey and Kedar Jhadav built a 66 runs partnership that helped India to reached the halfway mark.
But Qaasim Adams picked the wicket of Yadav, as a result, India again found themselves in a disturbing position.
Sanju Samson was dismissed for only 2 runs and Hardik Pandya scored a crucial 18 runs before being dismissed by Dane Paterson.
However, Manish Pandey from the other end kept the innings sailing. The other end was vulnerable to the South African bowlers. Jayant Yadav was dismissed for 1 run by Aaron Phangiso.
Dhawal Kulkarni defied the South African bowlers and scored unbeaten 18 runs and Pandey marched to score his hundred that helped India to reached the required numbers to win the match by three wickets.
Earlier, South Africans were restricted for 230 in 50 over . Dhawal Kulkarni took four wickets. David Miller scored 90, Qaasi Adams scored 52 and Theunis de Bruyn scored 40.
India in their first match of this series were bowled out for 55 and lost the match by eight wickets to Australia A team.
