Today was the 17th match of the Big Bash League 2014-15. What a match it was. The match went up and down throughout. Sydney Sixers put up a good target but in the end it was super over. Michael Lumb scored the highest runs of the tournament today. Only he and Jordan Silk were the only batsman to score runs in 2 digits. Except these men the highest score of the batsmen from his team was 7. Michael Lumb scored 80 runs. He was the reason Sydney Sixers were able to put a good score today. His 80 runs came from 61 balls with a strike rate of 131.1 and he hit 6 fours and 3 sixes.
2. Jordan Silk
Jordan Silk was another responsible batsman. He and Michael Lumb scored 69 runs in partnership and scored these valuable runs for the team. Without them it would have been the lowest score in this league. He scored 37 runs from 34 balls with a strike rate of 108.8 and hit 1 six and was not out.
3. Scott Boland
Scott Boland was another successful bowler. He gave the lowest runs today. He picked up 2 wickets one of which was of Michael Lumb. In 4 overs he gave 19 runs with an economy of 4.8.
4. Kevin Pietersen
Kevin Pietersen performed really well today. He scored the 2nd highest runs and a half century. He scored the runs when it was needed most and brought Melbourne Stars back in the game. He scored 54 runs from 43 balls with a strike rate of 125.6 and hit 8 fours and 1 six.
Flops of the Day
1. Nic Maddinson
Nic Maddinson was really a big disappointment today. He started the game and was dismissed on the 7th ball. After his dismissal the team went down and everyone flopped.
2. Riki Wessels
Riki Wessels was another big disappointment. He scored only 6 runs today. He was struggling with the bat. The bowler took advantage and dismissed him in the 5 over.
3. Glenn Maxwell
Glenn Maxwell was expensive and unsuccessful today. He and Michael Beer were the only ones who didn’t pick any wickets. In just 3 overs he gave away 24 runs with an economy of 8 and didn’t pick any wickets.
4. Luke Wright
Luke Wright was unsuccessful in the normal innings and super over. In the normal game he went out for a duck. He was the only batsman from his team to deliver such poor performance. In the super over also he didn’t do something good. James Faulkner did all the magic in the super over.
