The marketing comittee of BCCI ahs now come up with a new title sponsors for the tournaments which will be played in India, with Micromax Informatics Limited being the winner for the season 2014-15. This will mean that Micromax is now the title sponsor for all the Domestic and International tournaments which will be played in India.
Talking of the bid , the official press release by the BCCI stated that , “The winning bid for the Title Sponsorship Rights in the 2014-15 season was made by Micromax Informatics Ltd, for a fee of Rs 18,01,80,000.” This will effectively mean that Micromax Informatics will now be paying an approximate amount of 2 crores to the BCCI for each match of the upcoming tour of West Indies to India, which will include 5 ODIs, 3 Test matches and 1 T20 International.
BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel has welcomed Micromax Informatics Ltd as the partner of 2014-15 season. He was sure that their stay will be a fruitful one . He also added that there will be some exciting cricket during this period, both at the domestic level and at the International level.
But , what has happened is clear to everyone. BCCI could not attract big sponsors, simply because there is only 1 International seres scheduled in India and that too which is expected to be one sided , atleast in the longer format and the result of the past series just makes it worse. With the World Cup scheduled to start in February next year, the International calendar is too busy at that time and gives BCCI no chance of arranging even a short series.
Indian team is presently on a tour to England, where they were beaten comprehensively in the tests but have come back in the ODIs. Their fielding unit looks completely different , where work load is more infront of the wicket , rather than on the back side.
