Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc revealed he has a high regard for the South African counterpart Dale Steyn, who is raring to go after recovering from the shoulder injury following the surgery.
The 34-year-old fiery fast bowler sustained a major injury during the Perth Test against Steven Smith-led Australia side in November, last year.
“For someone like that (I have) a lot of admiration for. He’s not the biggest or strongest bloke but he’s played a lot of cricket,” Starc told The Unplayable Podcast as he was quoted by Cricket Australia.
While striking the emotional chords, the 27-year-old Starc had praised the efforts of speed gun Steyn, before the injury marred the Proteas bowling spearhead.
“[He has] taken a lot of wickets, bowled fast for a long time and unfortunately it’s starting to catch up with him,” Starc added.
Steyn, who himself revealed in April that the shoulder rehabilitation had worked wonders while urging to play for the national team as long as possible. Pertinently, in the international set-up, Starc himself is recovering from the foot injury.
Earlier in March, Starc sustained a foot fracture during the Bengaluru Test against India, as Virat Kohli-led side eventually won the Border-Gavaskar series by 2-1 margin. While talking about his pace bowling rival, Starc reiterated that Steyn had been a prominent face in the world cricket, as he has been experienced campaigner with the ball, who bowled and deceived quality batters on placid surfaces for the batting.
“He’s taken so many wickets, he’s done it in all conditions,” Starc maintained.

In a bid to join the Australia squad for the Ashes which is scheduled from November 23 at Gabba in Brisbane, Starc was eventually rested for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh beginning on August 27 (Sunday) at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur.
Steyn, who on the other side seemed to be three-weeks away to wrestle in the field, has been roped in by Titans for the 2017-18 edition of the domestic league. Steyn has featured in 116 One-day Internationals and 42 Twenty20 Internationals, as he bagged 238 wickets in limited-overs’ format.

After receiving the drubbing from England by 3-1, in the four-match Investec series, the Proteas will face visitors Bangladesh in September, as Steyn would also be eyeing to return into the fold. On the other side, Starc has produced some brilliant spells during his international debut after bursting onto the scene in 2010.
