Most Runs by a batsman in IPL 8

The eighth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was probably among the closest fought ones. All the teams barring the Kings XI Punjab did really well this time around. Mumbai Indians, who won the title for the second time, went through a tough time during the first phase of the tournament but came back with a bang to seal a place in the play-offs. In the first qualifier against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), they displayed a flawless show which was then followed in the finals too that sealed the deal for them at Eden Gardens.

Overall, the India Ka Tyohar nailed it this year and we can expect the same next season. But before it, let us get across to the highlights of the eighth season where we look at the most runs scored by a batsman throughout the tournament.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) skipper David Warner tops the list of the most number of runs by batsmen in IPL 2015. Warner started the tournament with a fifty against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and continued his good run of form till the end. His 562 runs came at an awe-inspiring strike-rate of 156.54.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli features fifth in the list of the most runs scored by batsmen in the eighth edition of the Indian Premier League. Kohli scored 505 runs in 16 matches at a healthy average of 45.90. Mumbai Indians’ (MI) Lendl Simmons, who was benched for the first three matches, finished as their leadng run-scorer (and third overall) with 540 runs with a strike-rate of 122.44. His gritty knock of 68 in the final against CSK proved decisive in MI’s win.
