The eighth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was probably among the closest fought ones. All the teams barring the Kings XI Punjab did really well this time around. Mumbai Indians, who won the title for the second time, went through a tough time during the first phase of the tournament but came back with a bang to seal a place in the play-offs. In the first qualifier against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), they displayed a flawless show which was then followed in the finals too that sealed the deal for them at Eden Gardens.

Overall, the India Ka Tyohar nailed it this year and we can expect the same next season. But before it, let us get across to the highlights of the eighth season where we look at the most wickets taken by a bowler throughout the tournament.

CSK’s Dwayne Bravo tops the list of most wickets taken by a bowler in IPL 8. Bravo, who even impressed with the bowl in last year’s IPL, finished with 26 wickets in 17 matches. Close to 90% of his wickets came in death overs, which in itself is quite impressive.

CSK’s Ashish Nehra features fourth in the list of the most wickets taken by a bowler in IPL 8. Nehra started the tournament on a good note against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Chepauk and continued to deliver against the likes of Mumbai Indians (MI), Delhi Daredevils (DD). Against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), he finished with excellent figures of 4-0-10-4. Overall, he took 22 wickets in 16 matches at a decent economy rate of 7.24.

RCB’s Mitchell Starc features fifth in this list. Starc, who was Australia’s stand-out bowler in the ICC World Cup 2015, grabbed 20 scalps in just 13 matches at an awe-inspiring average of 14.55. The good thing with Starc is that he guarantees wickets without going for runs, which other international bowlers are able to do very rarely now a days.
