The last few months might have seen Mahendra Singh Dhoni getting relieved of some big duties on the cricket field but the 35-year old has added another feather to his already illustrious cap away from the hustle and bustle of the cricketing world. The World Cup-winning skipper, who resigned as India’s limited-overs skipper earlier this year before being removed as the captain of Rising Pune Supergiant, was appointed as ‘CEO of the day’ by Gulf Oil India.
Wearing a blue suit, white shirt and a tie, the Indian cricket star looked dapper as he took charge of the company for a day. Dhoni’s association with the firm goes a long way back as he has been a brand ambassador for it since 2011.
Arun Pandey, Dhoni’s close friend and his commercial interests manager, Arun Pandey, revealed that the company and star player had planned the special day for a long time.
“As a CEO of the company for the day, Mahi has attended all the special meetings of the company. He will also take quite a few decisions, just like a real CEO,” Pandey was quoted as saying by Sportstar.
“Mahi’s association with the company goes back a long way, and for a long time, he also wanted to understand how a corporate CEO works. He wanted to try this out too,” he added.
Meanwhile, Dhoni will return to cricket field soon during the IPL when he will ply his trade for Rising Pune Supergiant. The Steve Smith-led side plays its first match at home against Mumbai Indians on April 6.
