India’s T20I outfit seemed to be poles apart from the ODI one, as it was full of energy and undying passion. What followed at Adelaide was just a massacre of the Kangaroos as Virat Kohli guided India to a position of complete dominance. Kohli continued his love affair with the Adelaide Oval as he remained unbeaten on 90. However, with just four balls to go in India’s innings, skipper MS Dhoni promoted himself ahead of Yuvraj Singh and later explained the reason behind his decision.
“Rohit started well, followed by Virat and well supported by Raina. He and Yuvi have had just one net session, which is why I promoted myself ahead of Yuvraj,” said Dhoni at the post match presentation. Australia though raced ahead to 80 in no time as Aaron Finch went all guns blazing. The Indian spinners soon came to the party and Dhoni felt that was a turning point for India. “We bowled superbly after that. I felt once Pandya went through that first over he would bowl much better. He was executing the yorker well, he was bowling the wide ball well.”
Kohli admitted that he loved batting at the Adelaide Oval and was named the Man of the Match. “I could take this stadium with me wherever I bat,” said Virat Kohli, the Man of the Match. “Just trying to keep things simple. I believe that in T20 as well. This stadium is right up there with anywhere in the world. I would love to thank the fans for coming out and supporting us.” “A great innings from Virat. He is hard to stop when he gets going,” said Australia’s skipper Aaron Finch.
