The young Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman is all set to undergo shoulder surgery on August 11 in London. Mustafizur was injured during his stint with Sussex last month during the T20 blast. He played only two matches for them before getting injured. He scalped 4 wickets in 2 games there. During those two games he only he suffered Superior ‘Labrum from Anterior to Posterior’ tear and now is set to undergo a surgery
The Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) media committee director Jalal Yunus confirmed this news as per ESPNCricinfo and said “After Mustafizur had met him yesterday, he gave the appointment. We are confident that Mustafizur is in good hands. We want this to get over as soon as possible,”
England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) suggested Dr. Andrew Wallace of London’s Fortius Clinic will perform the operation of the young pacer.
This is the second injury which Mustafizur has suffered in his short international career. First, he suffered ankle and knee injuries which delayed his stint with Sussex. This shoulder injury will have a long effect on Mustafizur as he will be advised to take rest for a period of as much as six months.
Mustafizur came like a storm in international cricket and these types of injuries are like hiccups in his career which may halt his success in long term.
