After MC Mary Kom, Sachin Tendulkar and Suresh Raina, former India captain Sourav Ganguly was nominated by Prime minister Narendra Modi to take part in Swaach Bharat Abhiyaan. Ganguly was one among the nine people and organisations nominated by Narendra Modi to take forward the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan.
The prime minister inspected the progress of work at Assi Ghat in Varanasi, where he began the mission in his parliamentary constituency Nov 8. Others include former Police official Kiran Bedi, include Nagaland Governor Padmanabh Acharya, danseuse Sonal Mansingh, former Indian Cricket team captain Saurav Ganguly, Eenadu group owner Ramoji Rao and his team, the India Today group and its head Arun Poorie, the Institute of Chartered Accountant of India (ICAI) and the Mumbai Dabbawallas.
Earlier, Modi named actors Kamal Haasan, Priyanka Chopra, Salman Khan and the team of popular TV serial “Taarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma” to take part in the campaign.
