Nargis Fakhri, Huma Qureshi finalised for ‘Azhar’


  • One of the most controversial cricketers in India, Mohammad Azharuddin has got his own biopic starring Emraan Hashmi in his place. The trailer of the ongoing movie was met with a lot of excitement in cricket fans who want to know what really happened to the versatile former skipper of Team India.

    After the trailer was release, numerous speculations on the cast of the movie arose. There were number of rumors linking some huge stars in Bollywood to play a part in the movie.

    Earlier, Prachi Desai, the ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbai’ starrer was certain to play the role of Naureen, the first wife of the cricketer. The role of Sangeeta, the second wife of Azharuddin was offered to Jaqueline Fernandez according to the rumors.

     

    However, all these speculation were untrue as the movie ‘Azhar’ has now finalized its cast. Nargis Fakhri will play the role of Sangeeta Bijlani. Azharuddin married Sangeeta after he divorced his first wife Naureen. The pair didn’t last long either as they split in 2010. After the split, Azharuddin was linked with the shuttle player Jwala Gutta. But both of them denied having any affair after the reports were public.

    The ‘Badlapur’ fame Huma Qureshi is now handed the role of Jwala Gutta in the film. Another star that was finalized was Gautam Gulati. The Big Boss winner will be seen on screen playing the role of current Indian team director Ravi Shastri.

    The film named ‘Azhar’ is directed by Tony D’Souza, and is scripted by Rajat Aroraa. The movie will focus on the cricketers much hyped affair and marriage to the actress Sangeeta Bijlani. It will also cover the match fixing scandal that Azharuddin was accused of at the end of his career. The movie is set to be release in the month of May next year and is one of the most awaited movies in Bollywood.
