New Zealand vs South Africa 2017: Duanne Olivier Released From Test Squad

The South African team has released pacer Duanne Olivier from the squad ahead of the third Test against New Zealand to be played in Hamilton.

Currently, the South African pace bowling line-up is packed with likes of Morne Morkel, Vernon Philander and Kagiso Rabada in the playing XI and Wayne Parnell on the bench. So there was no use of keeping a player in the squad when there was no chance of him making in the playing XI.

Olivier is not the only player to be released from the Test squad as earlier, the team management also released Chis Morris.

In fact, there might be a chance when a pacer may be benched for the next game in place of Dane Piedt, who was called up to the squad for the last Test match keeping in mind the spinning pitches in New Zealand. Piedt was called in the squad last week but a visa confirmation delayed his arrival to New Zealand.

At present, the South African team lead the three-match Test series by 1-0 by virtue of winning the second Test match. The visitors chased down a total of 81 in the final innings to gain a lead in the series.

The final Test of the series will be played in Hamilton at Seddon Park from March 25. There is a good news for the hosts as they will get the services of Ross Taylor and Trent Boult in the final game as the selectors have retained the same squad.

South African squad for the final Test: Faf du Plessis (captain), Hashim Amla, Temba Bavuma, Stephen Cook, Theunis de Bruyn, Quinton de Kock (wk), JP Duminy, Dean Elgar, Heinrich Klaasen (wk), Keshav Maharaj, Morne Morkel, Wayne Parnell, Vernon Philander, Kagiso Rabada, Dane Piedt.
