Off-spinner Dane Piedt has been called up to South Africa’s Test squad for the remaining two games against New Zealand. However, he won’t be a part of the second Test as he is still awaiting his visa confirmation and will be able to join the team at the end of the week, whereas the second Test starts from March 16 i.e. Thursday.

Cricket South Africa’s (CSA) move to include Piedt in the squad has been made after witnessing the nature of New Zealand pitches.

Incidentally, Piedt’s last appearance in Tests came against South Africa last year at Centurion.

Piedt was one of the players whose name cropped up during the time when a number of South African players were taking the Kolpak route, ending their international career. However, the off-spinner later made it clear he is not giving up on his international career.
