Pakistan coach Waqar Younis

Pakistan coach Waqar Younis said they are confident and the history can be changed  at Eden Gardens against India. India will take on Pakistan at the Eden Gardens on Saturday, March 19 where Pakistan erected their WT20 base. In the first match, they have defeated Bangladesh by 55 runs. Pakistan batting first scored 201.

“History can change and we are more confident this time,” Pakistan coach Waqar  said while asking about Pakistan’s failure of not beating India in ICC events. “This time, pressure is more on IND than PAK,” Waqar added.

Pakistan have never won a match India in the World Cup and World T20, so Waqar believes this time the history should be changed as India lost their first match to India.

But, Waqar urges everybody to sport the rivalry is only in the sport before the match against India.

“Rivalry should be taken only as a sport. And you should cherish the rivalry and enjoy it,” Waqar stated.

He also reminds everyone that Eden Gardens always brings good luck to Pakistan. India have never able to beat Pakistan in limited over match at Eden Gardens. India and Pakistan have played four ODIs here at the Eden Gardens and all the four occasions India lost to Pakistan.

“Kolkata has always been kind to us both on and off the field,” confident Waqar said.

He also said that this time, not Pakistan, India should be worried as the pressure is on Indian team after losing the first game to New Zealand.

“They must be worried that they can crash out of the tournament,” Waqar challenged India.

Talking about their fleeings being in India, Waqar said, “We have felt welcomed in India.”

Asked about which Pakistani player can rise to the occasion, Waqar raised Wahab Riaz’s name, who took five wickets in Brisbane e ODI against Australia in 2015 World Cup quarterfinal game.

“Wahab is a match-winner, he rises on the bigger occasion,” Waqar said.

But, Waqar is impressed by Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah, he said, “I think Bumrah has bowled very well for India.”
