Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi is going to be proposed as the next President of the International Cricket Council (ICC) by the Pakistan Board for one year which is starting in June, 2015. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Board of Governors recently, who met recently in order to recommend names for nomination for the designation of International Cricket Council (ICC) President, discussed in the last meeting.

The genesis of the committee is just an eyewash because Sethi’s nomination was considered in detail at the BOG meeting and he also indicated his interest in the position if the Prime Minister gave clearance for his name, said by the local media. Under the new governing rules of the International Cricket Council (ICC), member boards will vote their candidates for the post of International Cricket Council (ICC) President on rotation system.

As per the media reports, it is a formal post but there is lot of stature associated with it. The PCB BOG members believe that Najam Sethi is best suited to represent Pakistan’s case for restart of international cricket in the country as International Cricket Council (ICC) President.

After the BOG meeting the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had redirected only the name of Najam Sethi to the prime minister, the chief patron of the board. The Prime minister recently gave permission for Sethi to be voted as ICC President. Najam Sethi has also remained caretaker chief minister of Punjab during the last general elections and was voted as Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman in 2013 by Prime Mnister Nawaz Sharif.
