International Cricket is set to return to Pakistan. The Pakistan Cricket Board and the Zimbabwe Cricket Union have almost finalized an ODI series to be held in Karachi and Lahore in May.
A senior official said that a itinerary was sent to the Zimbabwe Cricket Union about 3 ODIs and 2 T20s and added that he also sent a proof of security which was asked for by the Zimbabwe Cricket Union. Two ODIs and 1 T20 in Lahore and an ODI and a T20 in Karachi is the schedule sent by the Pakistan Cricket Board.
If this series goes through, it will the first time after 2009 that Pakistan will host a test playing nation and the PCB chief is hoping that the positive vibes form the ZCU will allow them to schedule the series in the middle of May when the cricket team returns to Pakistan after a series against the Bangladesh.
The official also added that two associate nations including the Netherlands are in line to tour Pakistan and that the tour from Zimbabwe is a result of talks between the officials of both the boards that met during the World Cup in Australia.
Test playing nations have not toured Pakistan for security reasons but Pakistan did host small bilateral series against Afghanistan and also Kenya in the recent past.
